EVERY ACTION HAS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE REACTION

Sunday, May 20, 2007

When I was coordinator for a large urban school system's drug intervention program we dealt with the problem proactively rather than reactively by creating programs and events, which would help young people think about themselves and their future, the same things addressed below.  Our slogan was MAKE A DIFFERENCE; I guess I'm still that same guy, just trying to make a difference.  So let's just try and do that.  Weather or not and yes weather, rather than whether is a play on words.  Remember, pun always intended.

Oh my.  Once again, since this is my football, I'm going to avoid speaking of weather and try to make things better.  Oddly enough HURRICANE-FINDER was designed for just that purpose, so perhaps this is not that far off the mark.  The following occurred to me after the college shooting incident at Virginia Tech.  This is a reach-out piece.  Think about it.  Please.

EVERY ACTION HAS AN EQUAL AND OPPOSITE

                                  REACTION

For the past few days media has been full of the muderous events in Virginia.  The gunman's words, deeds and images have dominated hearts and minds of people worldwide.  Those shocked by the events vary from the popular BMOC, cheerleader, student-government leader, so-called nerds, geeks, loners, the bullied and the bullies  and all those now grown who once lived those identites, and those who still do.

Murder is wrong, as is tormenting another merely because you can.  Are the two equal?  Obviously not, but one may be causal factor of the other.  Imagine a world who nutured one another, sought out those shy, different people, tried to understand them, making them feel a part of society rather that a vilified minority.  Imagine that.  There might still be murderers in the making, but at least we tried.  Think about that the next time.  Make a difference.

                                    Thanks,

                                        JB
