TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENT
NATIOSPECIAL NAL HURRICANE CENTER MIAMI FL

COMMENT BY JB

Notice the date above.  It's December 9th, hurricane season 2007 is supposed to be over but our beloved mother, MOTHER NATURE THAT IS, has decided otherwise.  It ain't over til it's over as that great philosopher and statesman Yogi Berra was proud to say is apt today.

I was enjoying the last week or so of balmy Florida weather, celebrating the end of the current hurricane season, contemplating putting sails back up and reducing the myriad lines tying NEREIS in slip 48 at the Cape Coral Yacht Basin in sunny southwest Florida but our beloved mother decided otherwise by producing yet another calamity in the making.  It ain't over til its over.

Now all you folks who've put off preparing for storms may want to rethink your lack of preparations.  Evacuation plan, water, food, gas in the car, money in the wallet, storm shutters and those of you who are really discriminating may want to order your version of HURRICANE FINDER, right here at HURRICANE CENTRAL.  This one may be a nothing storm but then again it might not pass us by and there's always a next time and a next one after that.  Remember folks, IT AIN'T OVER TIL IT'S OVER.

See below for the latest advisory from THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER regarding yet another possible tropical disturbance

AN AREA OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS HAS BECOME BETTER ORGANIZED
TODAY ABOUT 550 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF PUERTO RICO...IN
ASSOCIATION WITH A SHARP SURFACE TROUGH AND A LARGE UPPER-LEVEL
LOW. THE SYSTEM IS ALREADY PRODUCING GALE FORCE WINDS...MAINLY TO
THE NORTH AND NORTHEAST OF THE MAIN AREA OF THUNDERSTORMS. THE
SURFACE TROUGH HAS BEEN MOVING WESTWARD AT ABOUT 15 TO 20 MPH...AND
THIS GENERAL MOTION IS EXPECTED TO CONTINUE OVER THE NEXT DAY OR
TWO. WATER TEMPERATURES ARE STILL WARM ENOUGH IN THIS AREA TO
SUPPORT TROPICAL CYCLONE FORMATION...AND UPPER-LEVEL WINDS ARE NOT
ESPECIALLY PROHIBITIVE FOR DEVELOPMENT. THIS SYSTEM HAS THE
POTENTIAL TO BECOME A TROPICAL OR SUBTROPICAL STORM DURING THE NEXT
24 HOURS.
..AND INTERESTS IN THE NORTHERN LEEWARD ISLANDS...THE
VIRGIN ISLANDS...PUERTO RICO...HISPANIOLA...AND THE EASTERN BAHAMAS
SHOULD MONITOR THE PROGRESS OF THIS SYSTEM.

FURTHER SPECIAL TROPICAL DISTURBANCE STATEMENTS WILL BE ISSUED AS
NECESSARY. FOR INFORMATION SPECIFIC TO YOUR AREA...CONSULT
STATEMENTS ISSUED BY YOUR LOCAL WEATHER OFFICE.

COMMENT BY JB.

Just as I mentioned above, several times to get your attention.  It ain't over til it's over.  We at HURRICANE CENTRAL will keep our eyes out for further developments for your perusal and edification.  Meanwhile hunker down and start planning.  How often do I have to remind you.

                                     Take care,

                                           JB
