GENDER TRANSFORMATION

                                                            FIRST OF A SERIES

The hurricane season begins May 15th in the Eastern Pacific so the formation of this tropical depression on May 29th was not  that unusual.  It became Hurricane Alma before making landfall in Nicaragua shortly after inception.

By all expectations the powers that be thought it would dissipate in the mountainous Pacific Coast of Nicaragua and Mexico, causing much flooding and subsequent landslides, which have devastated this economically deprived
region so many times before.

I wrote about this area of Central America in TILLER TALES in the chapter titled EPIPHANY.  Tiller Tales excerpts can be found elsewhere on this site.

However, Alma being a tenacious example of her gender, decided not to die but continued across the Yucatan Peninsula and into the Bay of Honduras where I spent so many happy times, and regenerated yet again.

                          HURRICANE ARTHUR

Alma has become Arthur.  How is that possible you may ask.

Here's Arthur inland over the Yucatan Peninsula now headed west, not only gender confused but also directionally challenged.

Apparently there's much jealousy between the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans concerning who names their storms and we have had a sort-of miracle as Alma is now Arthur.  I have no idea how Arthur, nee Alma feels about this cross naming business but there you have it.

But here's the kicker.  There's some talk of this tumultuous gender-confused storm crossing back to the Eastern Pacific where , you guessed it, he/she will be given yet another name.  Will he become she again or remain a he.  Stay tuned for yet another soap opera season of tropical weather.

                                NEW PROJECT

I have been away from this particular keyboard for several months on yet another project titled Hurricane SURVIVAL GUIDE which will appear shortly
elsewhere on this site.  I'm pleased with this book which takes HURRICANE FINDER to another level for everyone in all hemispheres on land and sea.
